Irving Picard appointed as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investments Securities LLC (“BMIS”)
On December 15, 2008, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York granted the application of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (“BMIS”). The court appointed Irving H. Picard as trustee for the liquidation of BMIS and the law firm of Baker & Hostetler LLP as counsel to Mr. Picard.As SIPC trustee, Mr. Picard is responsible for processing all claims by customers and other creditors of BMIS.
If you are a customer of BMIS and would like information about SIPC’s liquidation of BMIS or have claims information mailed to you, you may contact the SIPC trustee at (888) 727-8695 or visit the trustee’s website at http://www.madoff.com. According to SIPC, Mr. Picard expects to mail claim forms by no later than January 9, 2009 to customers and creditors of Madoff. You also can download the claim forms from the website of either the trustee or SIPC, www.sipc.org.
